Maya Vander is a well-known real estate agent recognized for her role on the popular Netflix series, Selling Sunset, which showcases high-end property sales by The Oppenheim Group in Los Angeles.
Born and raised in Israel, Maya moved to Los Angeles in 2002. She joined The Oppenheim Group in 2015, before *Selling Sunset* premiered in 2019. In 2017, she married David Miller, and they now have three children: Aiden (age 4), Elle (age 3), and Emma (born May 2023). After five seasons on *Selling Sunset*, Maya left the show in June 2022 and now leads her own real estate group based in Miami, affiliated with Compass: The Maya Vander Group. After years of splitting her time between Los Angeles and Miami, she now resides in Miami full-time. The Haven Team recently interviewed Maya to learn more about her new ventures and life after *Selling Sunset*.
Why did you decide to leave Selling Sunset, and how has your transition to living in Miami full-time been?
Leaving the show was a tough decision. The constant travel was challenging, especially with young children. While I enjoyed filming and miss everyone, I couldn't be everywhere at once. I love Miami and appreciate the city's recent developments and the companies relocating here.
Tell us more about The Maya Vander Group. How has it grown and evolved since its establishment?
I established my team about a year and a half ago due to my growing business. Keeping the team small ensures that everyone can successfully build their own real estate careers with my support.
Congratulations on the recent birth of your daughter, Emma Reign! With two other children, how do you balance work and family time, and what advice do you have for others seeking a healthy balance?
Balancing work and family is manageable, but I hired part-time help for my newborn. I can't take a typical maternity leave, so I'm always juggling showings, inspections, and other tasks. Around 4:00 PM, I try to spend quality time with my kids—taking them to the park, playing, and riding bikes. My team helps cover for me when needed, and my husband deserves a lot of credit for his support.
What do you enjoy most about living in Miami, and what advice do you have for those considering relocating to the city?
I love the lifestyle here. It feels less stressful, and driving across the bridge to Miami Beach is beautiful. People complain about traffic, but it's nothing compared to L.A. My advice is to focus on what's important to you: beach, walkability, views, or land. Miami offers diverse neighborhoods like Brickell, Edgewater, Midtown, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, and Pinecrest, each with its own unique appeal.
What are your plans and goals, professionally and personally, for the coming years?
Professionally, I aim to further establish my group in Miami and expand my business, helping clients make important real estate decisions. Personally, after experiencing the tragedy of a stillbirth at 38 weeks, I am committed to raising awareness and supporting women who face similar traumas or pregnancy losses. This is a sensitive topic that needs more open discussion.
